Zoom Attendance Percentage Checker

Upload your Zoom attendance report, set a percentage threshold, and instantly see exactly who attended enough of the webinar to qualify for a certificate. Handles leave-and-rejoin rows automatically.

100% private. Your CSV is parsed entirely in your browser — no attendee data is ever uploaded to any server.

How the tool works

1

Upload your Zoom CSV

Export the attendance report from Zoom and drop it in. The tool automatically skips Zoom's metadata header and finds the attendee table.

2

Set your threshold

Choose the minimum attendance percentage (default 80%) and confirm the total webinar duration. We auto-suggest it from the longest attendee.

3

See who qualifies

Instantly view qualified vs not-qualified attendees, download the qualifier list as CSV, or issue certificates with CertFusion.

The 80% attendance rule explained

Many continuing-education and professional-development programs require attendees to be present for at least 80% of a webinar before a certificate of completion or CPD/CE credit can be issued. The 80% rule is the most common benchmark used by accreditation bodies because it confirms meaningful participation while allowing for minor connection drops or a few minutes of lateness.

The rule is simple: if a 60-minute webinar has an 80% requirement, an attendee must accumulate at least 48 minutes of session time to qualify. This tool applies that calculation across your entire attendee list at once — and because it sums every join/leave session per person, someone who dropped and rejoined still gets full credit for their combined time.

What percentage of a webinar do you have to attend to get a certificate?

There's no single universal number, but 80% is by far the most widely used threshold. Some programs set the bar lower at 75% or even 50% for informational sessions, while strict accredited CME/CPD activities may require 90% or full attendance. The right percentage depends on your accreditation body, the course length, and your own policy.

  • 80% — the standard for most webinars, training, and CPD/CE credit.
  • 75% — common for longer multi-hour courses where some flexibility is expected.
  • 90–100% — strict accredited medical or legal education.
  • 50% — informal attendance or participation certificates.

How to calculate attendance percentage from a Zoom report

Zoom's attendance report lists each attendee with a Duration (Minutes) or Time in Session column. To turn that into a percentage:

  1. Determine the total webinar duration in minutes (the length of the live session).
  2. For each attendee, sum the minutes across all their join/leave rows — Zoom creates a new row every time someone rejoins.
  3. Divide: attendance % = (attendee minutes ÷ total duration) × 100, capped at 100%.
  4. Compare each result against your threshold (e.g. 80%).

Doing this by hand in a spreadsheet is error-prone because of the duplicate rejoin rows — which is exactly what this tool automates. It groups every row by email, sums the durations, and applies your threshold in one click.

Issuing certificates automatically with CertFusion

Once you know who qualifies, the next step is getting branded certificates into their inboxes. With CertFusion's webinar certificate feature you can design a certificate once and auto-issue it to everyone who passed the attendance threshold — personalised, verifiable, and sent in bulk.

CertFusion connects directly to Zoom, so you can skip the CSV export entirely. See the Zoom integration guide to import attendees automatically and gate certificate issuance on attendance — no manual list-building required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What percentage of a webinar do you have to attend to get a certificate?

Most programs require 80% attendance, though it ranges from 50% for informal sessions to 90–100% for strictly accredited CME/CPD activities. Set the exact threshold your accreditation body requires in the tool above.

How do I calculate attendance percentage from a Zoom report?

Sum each attendee's minutes across all their join/leave rows, then divide by the total webinar duration and multiply by 100. This tool does it automatically — it skips Zoom's header rows, groups duplicate rows by email, and applies your threshold instantly.

Is 80% attendance required for a certificate?

80% is the most common requirement, but it isn't universal. Your accreditation body or internal policy sets the rule. The tool defaults to 80% and lets you change it to any percentage you need.

Does this tool work with both Zoom meetings and webinars?

Yes. It supports both Zoom meeting participant reports and webinar attendee reports. Column names differ between the two, so the tool uses fuzzy detection to find the email and duration columns in either format.

Is my attendance data uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Your CSV is parsed locally with JavaScript and never sent to any server — no uploads, no storage, no tracking of names or emails. Your attendee data stays completely private.
